Chat with Dragons · Last updated 4 October 2026

Chat with Dragons is run by Chat with Dragons. Here's what we keep about you and what you can do about it.

What we keep

• Who you are on Discord: your user ID, username and display name. Discord gives us these when you sign in and approve it, or when you use the bot.
• Your game: your characters, their gear and gold, your bank, your runs (including the server and channel they were played in) and things like deaths and scores.
• Roles: whether your account has admin, dev or builder access. Most don't.
• MUD key: if you ask the bot for one, we keep only a hash of it.

We don't see your messages, servers, friends, email or password, and there are no ads or trackers. Table chat goes to the other players at your table and isn't saved.

Signing in

Nothing is shared until you approve it: inside Discord, on Discord's own Authorize screen (shown the first time you open the game); on the website, by clicking Sign in with Discord and approving. We use Discord's token once to see who you are and don't keep it. Your game session lasts 12 hours; on the website it's kept for that browser tab only. A short-lived cookie protects the sign-in itself and is removed when you come back.

Your browser also remembers a few display settings, like the theme. They stay on your device.

How it's used

Only to run the game. We don't sell or share it with anyone. The bot may post game events (with character names) in the channel where a run happened. Admins can see account names and roles so they can manage access. Server logs are kept briefly to keep things running.

Deleting your data

Open account in the game and choose Delete my account. Your Discord ID and names are erased straight away, your characters are retired and their gear and gold destroyed, and your MUD key stops working. Old runs shared with other players stay, but aren't linked to you any more. Your names refresh each time you sign in, so they stay current.

You can also email onykage@gmail.com for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion.

Security

The game runs over HTTPS, and the server and database aren't reachable from outside. If your data is ever exposed, we'll tell you.

Age

You need to be at least 13, and old enough to use Discord where you live.
